The Situation
Bundled.design was an all-in-one AI platform for image generation, video generation, and AI chat. I was originally hired to build a weekly newsletter called Antichurn, but the company pivoted to generative AI and I transitioned into the Product Marketer role -- managing a team of 6 developers and leading the full go-to-market strategy for the platform launch.
At the start, the product had no users, no community, and no brand presence in the AI creator space.
The Challenge
No existing audience to launch to -- had to build from zero
Highly competitive AI tools market with well-funded players
Needed to attract genuine power users, not just curious signups, to validate paid conversion
Managing a 6-person development team while simultaneously running marketing
The Strategy
The insight was that AI creators -- people who were already making AI art and videos and sharing them on social media -- were the perfect early adopter community. They had an audience, they understood the technology, and they would create organic content that showcased the product if given the right incentive.
Influencer and creator outreach
I built a detailed research sheet of AI creators across X, YouTube, and Instagram -- using platform-specific search techniques to find the right people by engagement quality, not just follower count. I reached out personally to each creator, leading with the value of the platform rather than a generic pitch.
Discord community from scratch
I launched a Discord community for Bundled.design users and grew it to 300 members using two methods: direct outreach to early users and a website pop-up that invited new signups to join. The community became a direct feedback loop between users and the development team.
The Creator Competition
To accelerate growth and generate organic content simultaneously, I organized a 14-day AI creator competition. The criteria was simple: create AI art or video using Bundled.design, post it on Instagram or X with our tag and mention, and the best submissions win platform credits. 60 to 70 AI creators participated, flooding social media with real user-generated content showcasing the product in action.
Team Leadership
Beyond marketing, I managed day-to-day operations for a 6-person development team -- tracking progress against PRDs, running follow-ups, and making judgment calls on technical decisions. One that proved critical: I enforced a strict code backup policy for all developers. When a new developer introduced a bug that crashed the entire system, we were able to roll back immediately with zero data loss. Without that backup protocol, the crash could have cost days of recovery time during a critical growth phase.
What Happened
10,000+ total users acquired within 3 months of launch
1,500+ monthly active users -- validating that users were returning, not just signing up
210 paid subscribers converted -- proving willingness to pay in a crowded free-tier market
Discord community reached 300 members with active daily engagement
Creator competition generated organic social content from 60 to 70 AI creators simultaneously
What I Would Do Differently
Build the Discord community earlier -- before launch, not after. A pre-launch community creates a ready audience for day one
Set clearer activation metrics from the start to understand which acquisition channel (influencer, competition, organic) drove the highest paid conversion rate
Key Takeaway
The fastest way to build an audience for a new AI product is to recruit people who already have one. By targeting AI creators with an existing following and giving them a reason to create content, Bundled.design built brand awareness, generated social proof, and acquired paying users simultaneously -- all without a paid advertising budget.
